The Wado Karate techniek
Otsuka, 444626 byte(s).
Otsuka Sensei developed the Wado Karate after his own idea, which means around his most important principle the so-called Taisebaki, i.e a movement by turning away form the attacker and in addition to this making use of the attackers force.
By means of this combination, a minimum of effort is required to obtain the maximum result.
Already at young age Otsuka was a master in Jujitsu , which can give an explanation why his opinion about karate differed so much from the opinion of others at the moment he started his career in karate.
His claimed that karate was to much static. He developed a number of Kumite techniques in which he tried to elucidate the previously mentioned 'Taisebaki'. Wado ryu is based upon this fylosophy.
Also his ideas about the so called Jiju-kumite, (free combat) were ahead in time. This caused him to decide to find his own way,
he called his style, "Wado Ryu Karate"
