There is no secret, no vital piece of information that, if suddenly revealed, can cause a sense of relieve or ability.
If there is no personal progress, this can not be blaimed to your teacher, because no teacher is able to transfer consciousness (perception) to you.
If you have no teacher, than do not elevate finding the right teacher as the primary goal.
You are also able to train (practice) without a teacher, the one and only secret is: Develop yourself (do it yourself)
If you continue being dependent on a teacher , or if you only following his approach, you will never reach the highest potential. Everyone who is looking for a way to improve himself, shall have to be willing to follow a long route, and impose himself to an endless discipline.
